Imphal, September 22 2025:
MLA Khumukcham Joykisan has appealed to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to probe the controversial deaths which occurred at RIMS recently by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) .
Saying that doctors are next to God to all patients, the MLA has appealed to all medical practitioners to withdraw their decisions of shutting down healthcare services.
As a part of Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, a health camp was held today at Thangal Bazar Dharamsala at the initiative of MLA Kh Joykisan.
Remarking that the recent incidents which happened at RIMS are very unfortunate, Joykisan said that patient parties assaulting doctors cannot be right.
"As a lawmaker, I feel strongly against such incidents of taking the law into one's hands", he said.
He said that even if any one has grievances, the matter should be addressed through legal mechanism.
At the same time, the decision to shut down all healthcare services because a doctor has been assaulted is very unfortunate.
This will create more pain and inconveniences to the public, Joykisan said.
Manipur is a conflict zone, he said before pointing out the recent ambush in which two paramilitary soldiers were killed.
There is no guarantee that such incidents will not happen again, he said.
Currently, JNIMS has not been functioning properly because of the recent flood, he pointed out.
Instead of shutting down all healthcare services, RIMS doctors and staff may go to law Court so that legal actions can be taken against the guilty, Joykisan said.
There were several incidents of assault on police personnel, he said.
He then asked what would have happened to the State had all police personnel laid down their arms because some of their colleagues had been assaulted.
Joykisan appealed to all doctors of RIMS to understand the plight of patients who have been denied healthcare services because OPDs, emergency, routine OTs and PMEs have been shut down at the hospital.
There are innumerable families who cannot afford treatment at private hospitals, he added.
Joykisan declared that a similar health camp will be held at Thangmeiband Multipurpose Hall on September 30 .
