Imphal, May 11 2025:
Pointing out that no dead man ever comes back alive, ex-MLA Soibam Subhaschandra has asserted that Nongthombam Biren is no longer a viable face for the CM's post after he stepped down.
He woill never return as the State's Chief Minister, said Subhaschandra.
The former MLA said this while speaking at the inauguration of a Meira Paibi shed at Malom Tulihal Terakha today.
Commenting on the speculations of some people about the possibility of N Biren's return as the Chief Minister of Manipur, the ex-MLA who is now a key leader of NPP Manipur unit asked whether there is any case of a 'dead man coming back' .
It is said that souls of people who committed suicide turn into ghosts.
Saying that N Biren virtually committed suicide by stepping down from the post of Chief Minister, Subhaschandra alleged that N Biren has now taken the form of a ghost.
He said that many BJP MLAs are now vying for the post of Chief Minister.
As long as the infighting among BJP MLAs continues for leadership, they will not be able to form a popular Government, he added.
Despite having a ruling MLA, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC is now suffering from grievous backwardness in terms of roads, drinking water, education etc, he said.
Even though an amount of Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned for Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC under MLA Local Area Development Fund during the current term, no significant development work can be seen, he said.
He also mentioned about an election petition he filed against the standing MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC.
The final hearing has completed and the High Court has reserved its judgment, he said.
"God willing, I, who secured the highest number of votes in the last Assembly election, may be able to serve as the people's representative for the remaining 18 months or so of the current 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly as and when the Court announces its verdict", he said.
He added that people have lost their faith in both BJP and Congress.
