Covid claims 2 lives in 24 hrs

Imphal, August 02 2022:
After a gap of 4 days Manipur recorded two more deaths to take the cumulative number of deceased persons due to the virus to 2131 .
Manipur reported the last case of death on July 28 with one death.
The two deceased persons hailed from Imphal East with one of them having received the first dose of vaccination and the other both.
Apart from the two deaths, Manipur continued to see low number of new cases with 48 persons returning positive in the last 24 hours.
The 48 cases were detected while testing a total of 738 samples to take the daily positivity rate to 6.5 percent.
The positive status of the 48 persons were confirmed while testing at RIMS (7), JNIMS (1) and other testing centres (40) .
The 48 cases, all civilians, are from Imphal East (10), Imphal West (18), Thoubal (1), Kakching (1), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (1), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (14) and Chandel (1).The cumulative number of positive cases has now gone up to 1,39,181 including 5017 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 456 inclusive of 3 Central security personnel.
On the other hand 91 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (76), RIMS (4), JNIMS (7) and SHRI (4).The cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,36,594 inclusive of 5007 Central security personnel to put the recovery rate at 98.14 percent.
On August 1, 3667 doses were administered to take the total number of vaccinated people to 31,09,668 including 12,87,712 with second dose and 2,06,376 precautionary dose.
Overall 54.01 percent of the eligible population have received the second dose of the vaccine while 62.21 percent have received the first dose.
At JNIMS out of 38 Covid beds 13 are occupied while at RIMS out of 62 Covid beds 30 beds are occupied.
On August 1, a total of 12 D Type oxygen cylinders and 8 B Type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres.
