Imphal, June 01 2016:
The Indian Red Cross Society has backed off from providing medical treatments to ILPS supporters stating that the protesters fired stones from catapults at its staff.
Indian Red Cross Society secretary Dr Y Mohen in a press meet held at its office at MG Avenue today said at times of calamity Red Cross Society provides emergency services to the people.
The ongoing ILPS agitation and the call made by JCILPS student wing to the people to take up any form of protest has literally turned the State into a war zone.
"How long will the people continue to turn on each other", Dr Mohen questioned.
Agitators thrashing passers-by in the name of ILPS is unfortunate.
The State Government should release all the students arrested in connection with the ILPS agitation, he stated.
Bandh supporters at Kwakeithel pelted stones and fired catapults towards the vehicle of Red Cross Society that was carrying a patient at around 8 pm yesterday.
Condemning the incident, Dr Mohen said the Society will no longer treat any person injured in ILPS related incidents.
A number of passers by have been inconvenienced in the last few days.
