Police have arrested four members of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) while they were launching a drive against price hike in Dharmashala area of Thangal Bazar.
Informing this during a press conference at the head office of the student body located within the campus of DM College today, general secretary of AMSU Alamjit asserted that the arrest of four AMSU members was unreasonable.
Demanding unconditional release of arrested four AMSU members immediately, Alamjit identified them as HRD secretary Ningthoujam Dipanjit, senior volunteer David Sharma, auditor of Imphal East District Committee Th Bhagat and finance secretary of Thoubal district committee Md Ajmal.
They have been arrested by the City Police at around 11.30 am and a video camera had been seized from them at the time of the arrest, Alamjit said.
He also announced that AMSU would be launching a series agitations under the banner of 'Eikhoi Cheng Phanghallu' (Make rice available to us) very soon.
