Imphal, April 21 2025: A 53-year-old woman was found dead, hanging inside her house at Sagolband Bijoy govinda Maning Leikai under Imphal police station on Monday, police said, The victim has been identified as Nongthombam ningol RK ongbi Lakhibai, wife of RK Chaoba (70).Local sources said the couple had a quarrel earlier in the morning.

Later, Lakhibai was found hanging inside the house.

Her husband is currently missing and remains untrace-able, according to police.

A team of Imphal PS, along with forensic experts, conducted a crime scene investigation before retrieving the body, which has been deposited at RIMS mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Following the incident, members of the victim's maternal family and local residents from Khurai Lamlong stormed the house and vandalised some properties.

However, police intervention brought the situation under control and prevent further damage.

Imphal PS has registered a case and launched an investigation.
