Imphal, April 02 2025: Manipur police on Tuesday arrested an administrator of a Facebook page for circulating a hate post the social media.

The arrestee has been identified as Seram Suraj Meetei (25) of Wangoo Terakhong Awang Leikai, presently residing at Pong Lambi, Lane No 3, near JNIMS Hospital.

According to a press note by Manipur Police Control Room, Suraj was arrested from Porompat on Tuesday for circulating communally sensitive fake news having potential to disrupt public peace and tranquillity.

The arrest was made as part of efforts to curb the spread of misinformation and maintain law and order in the state, said a police source, while urging social media users to exercise caution while sharing information online and warned of strict action against those found guilty of spreading fake news.
