MPCB plans anti-plastic drive from Apr 15

Imphal, April 02 2025: Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has informed all concerned that the enforcement drive for banning single use plastic items shall commence with effect from April 15 by a team comprising staff members of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, urban local bodies, district panchayats, gram panchayats and MPCB.

In a notification issued on March 28, MPCP member secretary Dr W Roshan Singh cautioned that appropriate punitive actions shall be initiated against producers, stockist, distributors, brand owners, manufacturers and others found violating the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended) .

The Action may include lodging of police complaints, seizure of banned plastic items and imposing Environmental Compensation as per Guidelines.

The enforcement drive will cover banned plastic items identified by the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended) and the Manipur Plastic Policy, 2022, it added.
