Imphal, August 26 2023:
Apart from drawing immediate attention of the government on excessive acts of Kukis against Meeteis along NH-37 road, Leeching, a coordinating body of Meetei organisations of Jiri, urged the government to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
According to a statement of Leeching, people belonging to Meetei community are reluctant to travel along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road due to constant threat by the Kukis since May 3 .
The Leeching also strongly condemned the representation submitted by IAS officer Ng Roben Singh, who has been suspended for refusing to take charge as DC Jiribam, to deputy secretary (DP) on August 12 mentioning Jiribam as Kuki dominated area.
It also said that the attempt made by a Meetei intellectual to wrongly portray the history of Jiribam was very unfortunate and condemnable.
