Imphal, April 21 2025: As a follow up to an earlier order, eviction drives and dismantling of unauthorised structures were carried out under the supervision of Imphal West deputy commissioner at Waishel Maril, Naga Nala, and eastern side of Nambul river bank from Keishampat to Keishamthong on Monday.

Speaking to newspersons Imphal West Central-II SDC Ranjit Meisnam informed that the drive carried out along with Manipur police from 7 am Monday onwards is aimed at preventing frequent flash floods experienced during the rainy season, as per the joint order issued by Imphal West district administration, environment directorate and Water Resources Department.

Notices had already been issued to all concerned to take down illegal structures, he added.

The SDC urged the people to support the works taken up by the government, while informing that action would be also taken up in other areas having illegal structures.
