National I&PR conference held to boost centre-state synergy

Imphal, August 05 2025:
A one day national conference on coordination with State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Departments and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Tuesday.
The conference witnessed the participation from secretaries of I&PR departments of various states and union territories.
Representing Manipur, Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) director Ngangom Uttam Singh and assistant publicity officer (Press) Ningthoujam Roshan Singh attended the meeting.
In-depth discussions on wide range of agendas aimed at strengthening convergence between the centre and the states in the area of public communication and media facilitation were held during the conference moderated by I&B Ministry's secretary Sanjay Jaju.
The sessions covered key topics including sensitisation and on-boarding of state/UT DIPRs on the Press Sewa Portal; promoting low-cost cinemas in India; India Cine Hub Portal; development & promotion of live event venues and single window for required clearances; International Film Festival of India; collaboration opportunities for states with WAVES Bazaar; and enhancing collaboration and cooperation in information, dissemination between the Ministry and IPR departments of states/UTs.
Attending the conference, Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Dr Loganathan Murugan highlighted the significance of the Press Sewa Portal (https://presssewa.prgi.gov.in/), developed by Press Registrar General of India (PRGI), which serves as a single-window digital platform to operationalise the provisions of the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act (PRP Act) 2023 .
He emphasised that the portal facilitates end-to-end processing of applications, registrations, and compliance functions through dedicated modules tailored for each activity.
Dr L Murugan further underscored that the active participation and engagement of all states and union territories are crucial for full-scale implementation and functionality of the Press Sewa Portal.
The attendees were also informed that over 20 online training sessions have been conducted by the Ministry of I&B for specified authorities to orient them on the provisions of the new Act and operational workflows of the Press Sewa Portal.
The Ministry, in collaboration with the PRGI, reaffirmed its commitment to providing continued support and training to the SAS to ensure smoother adoption of the new framework.
Press Information Bureau principal director general Sh Dhirendra Ojha delivered a presentation on enhancing collaboration and cooperation in information dissemination between the Ministry and the IPR Departments during the meeting.
The national conference also focused on enhancing synergy between the centre and state governments to create a valuable platform for mutual learning, exchange of best practices, and addressing challenges in a coordinated manner.

It is pertinent to note that Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen the media ecosystem, ensure accurate information dissemination, and promote responsible content creation and exhibition.
The successful implementation of these initiatives depends significantly on active collaboration and coordination efforts with the state governments.
