Thoubal, April 02 2025: A sit-in protest was staged by the local womenfolk at Thoubal Sabaltongba Awang Leikai on Wednesday in denunciation unknown persons opening fire at houses of two individuals on the intervening night of March 31 and April 1 .

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the sit-in organised by Rural Development Association, Sabaltongba and Sabaltongba Awang Leikai Meira Paibi Lup, Thoubal Municipal Council ex-councillor (Ward No 13) Sanasam Biren condemned the attack and de manded explanation from the perpetrator(s) .

He also appealed to all concerned not to repeat such attack in the future, and urged the government authorities to look into the matter.

Chipping in, Sabaltongba Awang Leikai Meira Paibi secretary Puyam Akasini reasoned that as the two persons whose houses Were fired upon are simple folks those responsible should clarify within short notice failing which local meira paibi and club will take suitable action.
