Art therapy conducted for displaced kids

An art therapy in connection with the celebration of Children's Day was organised under the joint aegis of Imphal East district administration and ENM Cafeteria on Tuesday for violence-affected children staying at the pre-fabricated houses constructed by the government at Sajiwa.
The District Child Protection Unit, Imphal East also distributed winter clothes for the children on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Imphal East DC Kh Diana explained that as a recreational means for mental relaxation to the displaced children staying in the shelter homes, the art therapy was envisioned through the painting activities.
Moreover, the DCPU under the social welfare department is providing winter clothes for the children, she maintained while assuring that the government has been making efforts to ensure proper education of the children staying in the relief camps and temporary shelter homes.
As part of these efforts, the government has completed mapping of schools to ensure no student is deprived of his/her educational facilities.
Now all the students are able to go to schools and the government is also providing support to students facing transportation problems.
The education department is also providing text books to the student from time to time and at the same time different CSOs and individuals are also providing help in this regard which is highly appreciated, the DC elaborated.
Diana also said that all concerned have been instructed to make arrangement for providing nutritional foods to child inmates.
The relief camp volunteers are also being provided certain amount for buying milk and other items for the children, she added.
