Imphal, November 14 2023:
Urging women folk of the state to forgo celebration of Ningol Chakkouba this year in solidarity with those families whose houses and properties have been destroyed in the ethnic conflict, Imagi Meira has asked women staying in relief camps not to take part in 'Ningol Chakkouba' function planned/sponsored by MLAs and organisations at relief camps.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata said that the women folk of the state should stay away from celebrating Ningol Chakkouba this year considering the crisis situation in the state which has been lingering on for the last 6 months.
While also urging the women inmates of relief camps not to take part in any Ningol Chakkouba celebration organised by MLAs and organisations at the relief camps, Sujata said that taking part in the festival could create disappointment among the womenfolk themselves.
"We should ring out the message to the state and central governments that the people of Manipur are dissatisfied with their attitude and dealing of the present crisis," she said.
She also pointed out that the government has not been able to trace the whereabouts of Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit in addition to resolving the missing case of Avinash Maibam and Ningthoujam Anthony who are missing since November 5.Even as these students remain traceless till date, another missing case of Samjetsabam Pisakma-cha and Birchandra of Thinungei Maning Leikai ward no.9 have surfaced.
As the huge number of central para military forces deployed in the state along with the state forces are not able to trace the missing Meiteis, all trusts in them have dissipated, the convenor contended.
