Imphal, November 14 2023:
Volunteer ex-service-men of Moirang & Bishnupur, and members of The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust distributed two sets of "Yongkhams" (Wooden Looms) and candle making materials to inmates of relief camps set up at Sunu Siphai and Tera Khongsangbi in Moirang under Bishnupur district.
Informing this in a release, the Trust said that the purpose behind providing these resources is to kickstart a mission aimed at supporting and offering alternative means of livelihood to mothers and sisters residing in the relief camps.
Anticipating that this pilot project will empower the women in relief camps to engage in productive activities, the initiative is envisioned as a source of honest and respectable income, no matter how modest, for the female inhabitants of these camps.
The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust will play a pivotal role in offering material support, managing the marketing and sales of handloom products within and outside the state.
All financial benefits derived from these endeavours will be directed to the internally displaced women, assured the release.
Established with a mission to provide continuous education support up to class 12 or graduation, offer assistance for alternative livelihoods through training and skill development, and supplement mental health care for children or women traumatised and adversely affected by disasters and conflicts, The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need, it added.
