'Eiigi Nupi Tamnalai' declared best feature film

Ningthoujam Ojitbabu's 'Eigi Nupi Tamnalai' has bagged the best feature film award as the art and culture department announced the winners of 15th Manipur State Film Award, 2023.Art and Culture commissioner M Joy announced the winners in an event held at the preview hall of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, here, on Tuesday.
The award winners for this year are 'Eigi Nupi Tamnalai' (best feature him), 'Samadon' (best debut film for a director), 'Tharoi Ahambagi Mahao' (best popular film providing wholesome entertainment), and Tangkhul film 'I Hanunghaoga' (Let Me Return) (best film in dialects other than Meeteilon) .
The award for best direction was given to Ningthoujam Ojitbabu for his film 'Eigi Nupi Tamnalai', best art director to KS Awungshi (I Hanunghaoga), best screenplay (original) to Ningthoujam Ojitbabu (Eigi Nupi Tamnalai), best actor (male) to Kshetrimayum Daya (Samadon), best actor (female) to Ithoi Oinam (Tharoi Ahambagi Mahao), best supporting actor (male) to Diya Khwairakpam (Akangba Nachom), best supporting actor (female) to Mellory Wahengbam (Khullaksha), and best child artiste to Lamnganbi Laishram (Ashengba Eral) .
The award for best cinematography was awarded to Tarung Wang (Khullaksha), best audiography (location sound recordist) to Tarung Wang (Tharoi Ahambagi Mahao), best audiography (sound designer) to Inaocha Khundrakpam (Akangba Nachom), best choreography to Babycha Salam (Eigi Nupi Tamnalai), best editing to Khundrakpam Sanjit (Eigi Nupi Tamnalai), best special effect to Lairenlakpam Mohendro (Eigi Nupi Tamnalai), best makeup artiste to Monjaobi (Apikpa Mahum), best costume design to Gaisinlu Rongmai Naga (Slang - The Curse), best music direction (song) to Nanao Sagolmang (Apikpa Mahum), best music direction (background score) to Tenao HD (Khullaksha), best lyricist to Ningthoujam Ojitbabu (Eigi Nupi Tamnalai), best male playback singer to Sorri Senjam (Taxi da Thoibi), best female playback singer to Loijingkhombi (Ashengba Eral), special jury award to Samadon and special jury mention to Angel Shimrah for the film Ngavei.
In the non-feature category, there is no winner for best non-feature film and best film by a debut director while the award for best film in sports/ issues went to Iron Women of Manipur produced and directed by Haobam Paban Kumar.
'Khumanthem Prakash Singh' produced by Sreenivasarao K and directed by Aribam Syam Sharma won the best biographical/art & culture film award, while the award for best short film went to 'Eewai' produced by Thingbaijam Samir and directed by Bishwamitra Khwairakpakm.
The award for best direction went to Bishwamitra Khwairakpam for the film 'Eewai', best cinematography to Saikhom Ratan (Iron Women of Manipur), best editing to Sankhajit Biswas (Iron Women of Manipur), best audiography to Laishram Devakumar (Iron Women of Manipur), best voice-over/narration to Chongtham Kamala (Khumanthem Prakash Singh), best music director to Michael Ngangom (Eewai), best music video to 'Lairaba' produced by Likla Band and directed by Gurumayum Bonney Sharma, best lyrics (music video) to OC Meira (Poppy Leirang), best music video playback singer (male) to Arbin Soibam (Lairaba), best music video playback singer (female) to Pinky Saikhom (Thajagi Macha Morambee), and special jury award to Bobby Wahengbam (Padma Shri Wareppa Naba) .
