Training of BLOs for Tadubi by-poll begins

A two-day training programme for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of 49-Tadubi (ST) Assembly Constituency commenced on Wednesday at the DRDA Conference Hall, here.
The training, conducted by National Level Master Trainers (NLMTs), focuses on the Special Summary Revision (SSR) with reference to April 1, 2025, as the qualifying date, in preparation for the upcoming by-election in the constituency.
Addressing the trainees, deputy district election officer/electoral registration officer of 47-Karong (ST) AC, S Lunguiba Thangal, emphasised the importance of the training, urging BLOs to actively engage and apply their knowledge to the SSR process.
He highlighted that the electoral rolls generated post-revision would be utilised in the forthcoming bye-election.
The training was led by resource persons Jayamadhav P and Harishilpa GR, both NLMTs from Karnataka.
They conducted four sessions covering constitutional provisions, roles and responsibilities of BLOs, and guidelines for accurately filling out various forms, including Form 6, 6A, 7, and 8.Additionally, the training incorporated hands-on exercises such as form-filling activities, role-playing scenarios, and case studies through group participation.
During the session, the NLMTs underscored the significance of appointing National Level Master Trainers for the first time in the country to ensure the smooth conduct of elections.
They reiterated that BLOs, as representatives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), play a crucial role at the grassroots level by revising electoral rolls and gathering accurate field information for their respective polling areas.
BLOs were advised to coordinate effectively with booth level agents, prepare the Nazari Naksha, and identify deceased or relocated electors.
The training also outlined key dos and don'ts for BLOs to follow.
Earlier, a meeting with representatives of political parties was held on April 1, 2025, at the office of the District Election Officer, Senapati.
The meeting focused on the upcoming by-election for 49-Tadubi (ST) AC and the rationalisation/re-arrangement of polling stations.
The training programme was attended by senior officials, including S Lunguiba Thangal; Ningreingam Leisan, ERO.
48-Mao (ST) AC; Sheveine, ERO 49-Tadubi (ST) AC; Rang David Kung, ADM, Senapati; along with SDOs, DLOs, and staff from the Election Office.
