AR honours brave-heart, aids students

Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) organised a wreath laying ceremony for rifleman/ GD Jang Bahadur Rai, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting insurgents at Road Track Junction near Khyakjong village in Tuensang district of Nagaland on January 29, 1961.The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying by commandant of the unit followed by a motivational speech addressing all ranks and narrating the inspiring story of the braveheart.
A total of four officers, 16 JCOs and 120 other ranks of the battalion paid tribute by laying wreaths and presenting guard of honour, informed a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S).
In another release, the PRO said that Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) carried out a special initiative by providing transportation for the students of Kakching and Thoubal districts to appear in the Sainik School Entrance Exam in Imphal on Sunday.
A total of 26 students along with 12 parents and four teachers travelled to Imphal to appear in the examination.
This initiative aligns with the broader vision of Assam Rifles to serve as a catalyst for nation building and ensuring all possible assistance to the community for a brighter future of the young generation, the PRO added.
