Imphal, April 22 2025:
On the occasion of the 134th Anglo-Manipurs War (Khongjom Lal) Ethno-Heritage Council (HERICOUN) paid respect to the Manipuri forefathers who laid down their lives for the motherland.
In a release, HERICOUN secretary general Aheibam Anand appealed to the people to take a united stand by remembering the valiant forefathers.
Expressing concern over recent trend of people thronging and revelling at the Anglo-Manipuri War memorial complex as if it is a festive event rather than offering solemn tribute to the martyred souls, he explained that as the day marks a dark-chapter in the history of Manipur there is no valid reason to organise any recreational programmes and activities on the day of the observance.
"Just as bur forefathers fearlessly laid down their lives for the land, the present generation must also act with courage and determination to preserve the true essence of Manipur," he added.
