Seva Bharti reaches out with free education call

Imphal, August 26 2023: Kakching AC MLA M Rameshwar Singh along with Seva Bharti International volunteer and coordinator retired Gen L Nishikanta Singh, Pushparaj of Seva Bharati India visited several relief camps in Kakching and interacted with the displaced people today.

At one of the counselling programmes held at Kalyan Ashram, the Kakching AC MLA noted that the inmates obviously want to return to their native villages.

Towards this, he has personally visited the affected villages-Sugnu and Serou-to study the feasibility of their resettlement, he said.

He also said that villages are now slightly safer than before and as such efforts are underway in consultation with the State Government to expedite the rehabilitation process.

The objective of the visits was to train the inmates in the relief camps in various skills for income generation and to explore the possibility of sending displaced students of Class III to VII to JSS School Mysore for free education, said retired Gen L Nishikanta Singh.

They distributed forms to the displaced people for collecting the list of interested students who are willing to study in JSS School Mysore (free education to children of Class III to VII) and Alvas College Mangalore.

The initiative to provide education at JSS School is to encourage the victims and ensure that they do not lose the opportunity to educate their children, said L Nishikanta Singh.

The Seva Bharati and Peace Committee Kakching AC also assured all tools required for skill development training including manufacturing of candles, incense sticks and consumable items.

Peace Committee Kakching vice chairman Y Nilachandra Singh took part in the visits to the relief camps.
