Imphal, April 26 2025:
All Tribal Rights Protection Forum Manipur has appealed to the public not to disturb or hinder any developmental projects due to one's personal interest and instead, emphasised adherence to the guidelines set by competent authorities to ensure the smooth and timely completion of work in the hills.
In a release, the forum indicated that the appeal is issued in support of the notifications served by Ukhrul and Kamjong deputy commissioners on the April 16 and 17 in connection with the construction of NHs within Ukhrul district and Kamjong district for which necessary steps have been taken up by the competent authorities.
Both the competent authorities have appealed to the public and the land owners to extend maximum co-operation in executing the projects of National Highways in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
The authorities said that standing house structures to be affected in the expansion of on-going and upcoming National Highway projects, NH-202 Yaingangpokpi-Ukhrul-Jessami Road (Packages 1,2,3,4,5,6, & 7), NH-102A Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi Road (Package 1 & 2), NH 102A Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package 1) and NH-29 Jessami-Layee Road, are all notified to the public and land owners that, only house structures existing before the publication of 3A Gazette Notification verified through the MARSAC report would be entertained.
The district administrations have also notified that, all new house structures that have been constructed after the notification of 3A shall not be included in the assessment of compensation or rehabilitation but shall be at the risk of the persons who have constructed the house structures.
It is likely due to all this unscrupulous erection of road side house structures that the PWD authorities cancelled the tender for the work of widening and improvement of Shangshak-Tengnoupal, Road Pkg-1 (from 0.000 to 38.700 Km) of the NH-102A into two lane with hard shoulder in the Manipur under the Annual plan 2024-25 through KPC mode which was said to have administrative reason, the release observed, appealing to all stakeholders to ensure that no developmental projects are disturbed or hampered.
The All Tribal Rights Protection Forum further appealed to the PWD authority to initiate a prompt retender for widening and improvement of Shangshak Tengnoupal road Pkg-1 in the interest of the general public.
