Imphal, May 17 2010: Maintaining that state government could not deal with the problems ahead of the state, Manipur People Party (MPP) today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister drawing his attention in handling directly the situation of the state.

The memorandum, which a copy was also forwarded to the Union Home Minister, put down a detail report of the suffering received by the people of the state due to the prolong economic blockade imposed on the national highways by the ANSAM supported by other civil societies protesting against the holding of hill districts council election under the existing Act, MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang said today.

Nimaichand, briefing to reporters today at the party office, said that the issues of month long economic blockade called by ANSAM from April 11 last and the impasse arising out when NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah planned to enter the state could not be settled by the state government.

MPP is out of believed that state government will solve the issues at the earliest he said reiterating that the party, considering this, has sought Centre's intervention in directly handling the issues in the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister of India.

State government is not seen taken up any means to end the economic blockade.

There were no sign of taking up measures to relief the people from scarcity of food and other essential items.

They talked to the media but not translated into action.

Assurances given to the people by the government failed.

People have no confidence with the government now, he said asking why not government is not using security forces in procuring essential commodities.

Even during the high up Naga's movement under Phizos, government used security forces he recalled adding that central forces can also be used.

Government could not translate into work the decision taken by it.

At the same time, food minister came out openly and started blaming the home department for not providing security to the vehicles.

This showed that SPF government under the leadership of the Chief Minister, O Ibobi could not take care of the people.

To discuss the prevailing situation, a meeting of the working committee of the MPP has been convened at 11 am on May 19.The meeting will chalk out strategy of the party deal with the situation, Nimaichand added.
