Two assaulted

Thoubal, April 16 2025: At least two residents of Langathel who went to watch Thabal Chongba at Heirok Heituppokpi were severely thrashed and left for dead later.

The injured have been identified as Nepram Surjakanta (27), s/o N Robin and Okram Robot (27), s/o O Debananda, both residents of Langathel Mamang Leikai and they are undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.

Expressing concern over the disturbing incident, residents of Langathel urged the people of Heirok to help in identifying the culprits to take legal action.

The two men were reportedly left abandoned, believed to be dead.

Addressing the media at Langathel Yumjaomanbi Ching today, one Mayengbam Ibemcha said that the two men went to Heirok Heituppokpi to watch Thabal Chongba on April 14 .

Saying that they, however, were beaten brutally by some locals of Heirok, she added that the two men were taken to a hospital by a group of people from Heirok.

She urged the Meira Paibi groups and clubs of Heirok to cooperate with the police investigation to identify the culprits and prevent further escalation.
