No dialogue with India, says CorCom

Imphal, October 05 2012: Categorically stating that there is no plan to hold dialogue with the Government of India, CorCom has asserted that political dialogue with India would be a possibility only when there is guarantee that freedom of Manipur would be restored.

A corcom statement issued by its media coordinator H Poirei pointed out that there is no similarity in any aspect between the people of Western South East Asia (WESEA) and the mainland India.

Opining that some insurgent groups who had opted for political dialogue with india might have realised futility of such an exercise, CorCom stated that India is trying to portray the ongoing campaign for independence as an internal problem and thus insisting on political dialogue with the armed groups operating in the region.

As for Manipur, its own centuries old history and identity, varied demography with that of India and unique tradition are evidence enough that Manipur (Kangleipak) was never a part of India.

Contrary to India resorting all sorts of pressure tactics along with cosmetic development activities to install hegemonic peace, CorCom is waging a war with the sole intention and determination to regain independence, said Poirei.

Moreover, peace gestures by India is to ultimately keep Manipur under its control which, if materialises, will mean the people consequently losing its own identity and tradition whereas CorCom is committed to take back what India has been depriving Manipur for decades, said the statement while affirming that until and unless there is a conducive environment that Manipur's sovereignty would be restored there is no point in ceasing hostility against the Government of India and its agents.
