Two cases registered against EGI team

Imphal, September 04 2023:
The State police have taken up two separate cases against four members of the Editors Guild of India (EGI) .
The cases were taken up by Imphal police station based on a complaint lodged by one Ngangom Sharat and the another by Porompat police station based on another complaint of Sorokhai- bam (ningol) Thoudam (ongbi) Sangita.
The cases are related to the report of EGI published on Saturday "Report of the Fact Finding Mission on Media Reportage of the Ethnic Violence in Manipur.
The FIRs were filed against Sanjay Kapoor, Seema Guha, Bharat Busan and the president of EGI on the charge that the report published might have been sponsored and it may create enemity among the people based on ethnic line.
Defamation and criminal conspiracy were also mentioned in the FIRs lodged against the EGI.
It may be mentioned that the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors' Guild of Manipur (EGM) have also denied the report of EGI yesterday.
