Governor reviews situation with CS, home commissioner

Chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi and commissioner (home) T Ranjit on Monday called on Governor to apprise her of the prevailing situation in the state and various initiatives taken up by the state government for relief and rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The chief secretary informed that virtual meetings were held twice with the committee set up by the Supreme Court and an expert team will soon visit the state to look into relief and rehabilitation of the displaced people.
Regarding distribution of relief materials, the CS said that all efforts are put in by the state machinery to ensure all the relief items are received by all the inmates.
He also said that in some cases, relief materials are being transported through different routes or by helicopter.
The DCs are instructed to monitor the price of essential commodities especially from private traders by involving local CSOs and civil supply officers concerned, CS asserted.
Regarding inability of payment of private school fees by some families, CS informed that the state will bear the fees of those displaced students.
The Governor asked the CS for identification of those relief camps facing acute shortages of essential supplies and to constitute monitoring committee to look into such matter.
She also suggested for setting up helpline number for addressing the grievances and concerns of the inmates directly.
While taking stock of the pre-fabricated houses set up at different places, she instructed for completion of the set ups at the earliest as it will ease some of the problems faced by the IDPs.
She further highlighted the importance of providing nutritious foods for the pregnant, lactating mothers and children in relief camps.
Highlighting the continuous efforts extended through Governor's secretariat, the Governor said that she will further extend maximum assistance for the IDPs.
