Indefinite hunger strike enters 6th day

The indefinite hunger strike launched by Thawai Mirel Women's Wing demanding unification of all CSOs to guide the people under a common agenda and convening of a special assembly session to pass resolution for saving Manipur, completed 5 days on Monday.
Speaking to reporters in this regard at Khurai Heikru Makhong, where two women volunteers are on hunger strike, Women Wing convenor Th Sujata recounted that the peaceful agitation commenced with two women volunteers after wrapping up its relay hunger strike on July 30.Since condition of the two women hunger strikers deteriorated, they were picked up by police and taken for treatment.
Later another two women volunteers continued the indefinite hunger strike at Khurai Heikru Makhong.
Their health condition is also deteriorating day by day.
She further informed that members of COCOMI came at the Khurai Heikru Makhong hunger strike site and requested the two women agitators to review their stand.
However, the two women hunger strikers refused and said that the agitation will continue till their demands are met.
While expressing discontentment over the silent attitude of the state government in connection with the stir, she said that no representatives of the state government has approached Thawai Mirel Women Wing and spoken a single word in connection with the stir which clearly indicates that the state government actually desires that the women of the state continue their the indefinite hunger strike and die.
