Imphal, June 04 2025:
Like many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and different agencies that have come forward to extend a helping hand to the flood-affected people of the state, Arambal Tenggol (AT) is also tirelessly assisting those in distress.
According to an AT volunteer, although the situation is dangerous, they are not afraid to wade neck-deep in flood waters to rescue the people.
"We do not feel tired staying in the water every single day if it is for the people," the volunteer stated.
The indomitable spirit of AT in rescuing people from flooded areas cannot be ignored, just as the efforts of other CSOs are worth appreciation.

While various national media and government-owned news channels continue to highlight the rescue operations conducted by government agencies, generally in shallow waters, the selfless and daring acts of AT volunteers to rescue the flood-affected people, regardless of the depth and swiftness of the current, merit due recognition.
A flood-affected woman, who was rescued by members of AT and SAYOL conveyed her sincere gratitude to the volunteers for their help.
The woman recounted that she had gone to her sister's place at Kongpal Hijam Leirak on Tuesday morning to help pack up belongings due to the floods.
Unbeknownst to them, the flood waters rose and suddenly, they were in neck-deep flood waters.
They contacted authorities concerned for rescue but assistance did not arrive.
However, AT and SAYOL members arrived and rescued them from near death.
Noting that AT had been repeatedly vilified all over the world during the conflict, she, however, stated that the truth is for all to see when Manipur was struck by natural calamity over the past few days.
When the Imphal River breached its bank in New Checkon on May 31 and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel deployed in the location were trapped, AT members were the first to extend their help to get them to safety.
This selfless act was highlighted by the national media.
Meanwhile, many have lauded the AT members who forayed into the remote areas of Imphal East district, which were flooded, to look for and rescue the livestock and the people who stayed behind to look after the animals.
On top of this, the AT members worked tirelessly to rescue patients and staff members of JNIMS when the hospital became inundated.
An AT member, expressing his heartfelt emotions, stated that he is ready to sacrifice his life for Manipur and its people.
"We have no fear and hesitation while rescuing those who have been affected by the floods.
Prolonged exposure to the flood waters has resulted in skin diseases and fever, but we are still raring to go out and help the people," he affirmed.
