Imphal, November 20 2023:
The Meitei Leepun has strongly condemned the allegations made by Mrs Brinda and Babloo Loitongbam in the National media, falsely levelling Meitei Leepun as a militant group responsible for the current crisis in Manipur.
Refuting the allegations as baseless, the Meitei Leepun had sought immediate clarifications from Brinda and Babloo regarding their allegations.
Furthermore, the recent support voiced by Nimaichand Luwang on social media, without any evidence or basis, is deeply concerning, the Meitei Leepun decried in a press release.
It asked Nimaichand Luwang not to engage in petty politics and in tarnishing the name of Meitei Leepun without proper justification.
Further asking Nimaichand Luwang to refrain from 'baseless involvement in the future', the Meitei Leepun asserted that it would not remain mere spectators to any act of tarnishing its image.
Meitei Leepun is a mass movement that believes in strengthening the Meitei and uplifting the ideas of oneness in Manipur, it said.
"We remain committed to truth, justice and maintaining our honourable standing in the community", it added.
Meanwhile, JD (U) Manipur chief spokesperson Dr Nimaichand Luwang has clarified that the statements he made at a press conference held on Nov 17 were in the interest of the people of Manipur.
"If any person or organisation feels offended by my statements at the said press conference due to misunderstanding, I hereby withdraw my said statements and regret for the same", Dr Nimaichand Luwang said.
He also appealed to everyone not to misunderstand his statements (made) at the said presser.
