CME held on hair transplantation

A 1-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) on hair transplantation was held today at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt Ltd (SHRI), Langol.
The CME was organised to celebrate the completion of 200 hair transplants at Shija Hospitals, said SHRI in a release.
At the event, Dr Utkarsh Srivastava, DNB Resident (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), gave a presentation on the topic, "Hair Restoration" wherein he spoke on the history of hair transplant, anatomy, hair growth cycle, hair disorders, classification of disorders, assessment, medical & surgical management and recent advances.
According to the second presentation on the topic, "Shija Hair Transplant Client, Market and Prospect" by Dr Nabakishor Haobijam, Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon, male clearly outnumbers female in the gender distribution of transplant with 177% followed by female with 21.10% and few transgenders contributing to 2.1% .
Out of the total 200 hair transplants, 87, 56, 28, 12, 9 were from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching respectively; 2 each from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi and 1 each from Noney, Senapati, Agartala and Kolkata.
It is also estimated that nearly 2 lakh male and 90,000 females may require hair restoration in the State.
The best solution for baldness is hair transplantation.
The dedicated team of 10 trained hair transplant nurses was also felicitated by the management of Shija Hospitals during the CME.
It may be mentioned that these qualified hair transplant nurses have been well trained from Bangalore and Chandigarh.
