Senapati, Kakching observe World Youth Skills Day

Mount Everest College, Senapati in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (My Bharat), IQAC, and the Skills Enhancement Committee, organised a special event on World Youth Skills Day themed 'Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills' at the college's auditorium on Tuesday.
The observance included two technical sessions with the first featuring Police Science Department head Alen Chiru, delivering a lecture on the rapid advancement in technology in the past two decades, illustrating how technology has evolved from traditional black and white TVs to smartphones, and emphasising the importance of adapting to the changes.
The second session was led by Physics Department assistant professor and IQAC coordinator Niomchung Jatak Chiru, who deliberated on the significance of digital skills and artiftcial intelligence (AI) in today's world.
Chiru also emphasised the need for youth to acquire these skills to become self-sufficient and reduce dependence on others for tasks that can be easily done using smartphones.
He provided practical examples, such as filling scholarship forms, income certificates, and domicile certificates, which can be completed digitally.
The assistant professor also reflected on use of AI applications like Meta AI in WhatsApp and ChatGPT, while cautioning that though these tools are not fully reliable, it is essential to learn and master them as they are increasingly becoming part of daily life.
Observance of World Youth Skills Day serves as a valuable platform for students to gain insights into the importance of digital skills and AI in empowering youth.
KAKCHING: World Youth Skills Day 2025 was jointly observed by Lamjao Part-1 Development Association, Lamjao and Mera Yuva Bharat (MYB), Thoubal at the former's Lamjao Mayai Leikai office on Tuesday.
The programme presided over by World Meetei Council Manipur State president and Langmeidong Higher Secondary School retired principal Urikhinbam Kunjo Meetei had Luwang Mastermind, Wangkhei proprietor U Johnson as the resource person.
Similarly, Chandel divisional forest officer Dr Naorem Munal Meitei and his staff also observed World Youth Skills Day 2025 at St Pauls Higher Secondary School, Liwa Changning, Chandel district.
The observance was participated by around 1200 students, teachers and Forest Department staffers with Dr Munal as chief guest and school principal reverend father Benjamin Kodai as president.
During the programme, a detailed discussion was held on 'Youth empowerment through AI and Digital Skills', this year's theme for World Youth Skills Day, along with how students and youth can protect the environment using AI and other digital skills.
