AR celebrates Women's Day in Kakching, Chandel

Assam Rifles conducted a series of events in Kakching and Chandel districts on the occasion of International Women's Day, to celebrate the nobil ity of womanhood and to honour their achievements and contributions to the society.
A felicitation pro gramme was also organised in honour of 12 women entrepreneurs who amidst the ongoing ethnic crisis rose to the challenges and became a shining example to the society.
Each of them and few other influential women personalities shared their experiences and views at the function.
The entrepreneurs, namely N Indu Devi, Y Nirmala Devi, Angom Premaleima, M Riya Devi, I Tamphasana, I Thajatombi Devi, Thingujam Ithoi, Thokchom Apombi, L Manitombi Devi, Manisana Devi, L Geetha and Sushila Devi were felicitated by Brig Gaurav Kapoor of Assam Rifles.
A medical camp was conducted after the felicitation ceremony to enhance the health and hygiene fabric of the region wherein 102 people got benefitted.
The relief camp authorities thanked the Assam Rifles for the medical camp.
Also, a lecture on women's hygiene was conducted at Berukhudam village of Chandel district by CMO MS Mathew in connection with the celebration of International Women's Day.
Post lecture, sanitary napkins were distributed to the women present and snacks were served.
The initiative of Assam Rifles is aimed at upholding the spirit of womanhood and celebrating inspirational lady figures that rose to the challenging situation and proved their mettle, according to a press release from PRO IGAR (S) .
