Imphal, April 03 2025: A large number of women staged a sit-in protest at Kakching Bazar on Thursday, opposing the transfer of SP Priyadarshini Laishram to Jiribam district just a month after her posting in Kakching district.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the protest, Kakching Apunba Nupi Lup co-convenor Pukhrambam Baby Devi condemned the transfer order, pointing out that Priyadarshini was appointed as Kakching SP on March 1 .

She demanded immediate revocation of the order, warning that failure to do so would prompt the people of Kakching to launch intense agitations.

Meanwhile, the Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation, Kakching, also condemned the frequent transfer of the district's SP.

Expressing dismay over the abrupt transfer, it stressed that an SP should ideally serve in a district for at least two to three years to ensure administrative stability and effective law enforcement.

The organisation urged authorities concerned to reconsider the transfer and allow Priyadarshini to continue her duties in Kakching.
