Imphal, April 26 2025:
In a heartwarming gesture, a Class XI student from Manipur studying in Canada, along with her friend from Assam, donated two handlooms to the inmates of the Akampat and Hiyangthang relief camps.
The handlooms were donated by Haobam Jiya, daughter of Manoranjan and Joyshree of Singjamei Thongam Leikai and Evelyn Deka from Assam.
Jiya was accompanied by her family members.
At the function held at Akampat, Dr Nepram Sanjib, RIMS Medical Superintendent, said Jiya and her friend raised funds for IDPs by selling cookies, demonstrating their solidarity and support.
He added that Jiya and her friend used the proceeds from selling cookies to purchase and donate the handlooms.
He commended the kindness of the two girls in helping those in distress and prayed for peace to be restored in Manipur.
