Bishnupur, July 16 2025:
Deputy commissioner (DC) Pooja Elangbam has appealed to district's denizens to voluntarily remove any unauthorised encroachments along national highways, state highways, inter-district and inter-village roads, as well as footpaths, by July 21, 2025 .
Addressing the media at the Mini Secretariat Conference Hall, the DC emphasised the need for public cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct of the eviction drive from July 21 .
DC Pooja also urged civil society organisations, local clubs, and the public to spread awareness about the encroachment eviction drive.
She also highlighted that unauthorised structures along roads-such as house and shop extensions, permanent and temporary sheds, and the accumulation of construction materials and waste - pose serious inconveniences and safety hazards to the public.
"As empowered citizens, we must strive to maintain public amenities like roads and footpaths.
Their condition reflects the progress of a society," she remarked, urging the public to take active steps in preserving public property.
The DC further stated that failure to comply with the order would result in strict penal action under the relevant act, as well as eviction, demolition, and removal of the structures, items, and debris by the authorities.
The encroacher will bear all costs incurred during the removal process, maintained the DC .
It may be noted that an official order regarding this matter was issued earlier
on July 14 .
