Five held for illegal stone quarrying

Imphal, April 03 2025:
A police team arrested five individuals on the charge of engaging in illegal stone quarrying at Lungthar village under Nongpok Sekmai police station.
A statement of Manipur Police Control Room identified the arrested persons as Wairokpam Somoriit Meitei (28), Keisham Sumonanda Meitei (26) and Haobam Naocha Singh (19) of Yairipok Khoirom Kangjeibung, and Md Rami Khan (41) and Md Abir Khan (35) of Shikhong Khunou.

The arrests were made on Wednesday in connection with unauthorised quarrying activities.
Among the five, Md Abir Khan has been identified as the supplier, while the remaining four are drivers.
Police also impounded three Tata dumpers and a JCB excavator used in the illegal operations.
