Thoubal, April 26 2025: Paona Mongpham Protection & Celebration Committee (PMPCC) observed a memorial ceremony to commemorate the 134th death anniversary of Ibudhou Paona Brajabashi today.

The memorial event held at Arapti Paona Mongpham Ground, Arapti Maning Leikai in Thoubal district was graced by Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, MP, Inner Parliamentary Constituency; Basir Rahaman, Councillor, LMC Ward No 8; Paonam Pishak, great grandson of Paona Brajabashi and other family members.

Religious rituals, devotional songs, Wari Leeba sessions were the main highlights of the memorial ceremony where the MP led the gathering in offering floral tributes on the portrait of Ibudhou Paona Brajabashi.

Addressing the gathering, MP Angomcha Bimol lauded the qualities and ideals which made Paona Brajabashi one of the most exceptional leaders the State has seen.

Stating that he is the pride of all patriots, the MP recalled the immortal words of Major Paona at the battlefield of Khongjom (Anglo Manipur War 1891) as recorded in the Cheitharol Kumbaba.

He urged people to stand firm for Manipur and to not give room to any notion that might make them question their love and loyalty to the motherland.
