Public meet calls for defending state

As part of a series of public meet at the local-level spearheaded by Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) to discuss the ongoing crisis, a public meet on the topic 'Leibak Meeyamgi Meepham: Manipur crisis Chahi Ani Phajillakpa' was held Monday at Ima Thoinu Lairembi Shanglen, Pheidinga.
The public meet jointly organised by Pheidinga Youth Development Club and Pheidinga Women Development Society under the aegis of COCOMI was attended by COCOMI Mobilisation Committee convener YK Dhiren, IPR committee convener Laikhuram Jayenta, volunteers Ksh Romesh and Soraisam Sanjit and local elder Khangenbam Ibempishak as presidium members.
During the public meet, YK Dhiren said relation among the people residing in different parts of Manipur to defend the land was properly maintained during the time of kings.
However, indigenous thoughts, administration, economy and other social structures gradually waned ever since Manipur became part of India on October 15, 1949 .
The condition of Manipur seems to be degraded after becoming part of India for the past 75 years, he said and expressed sadness over India's indifferent attitude towards Manipur for a long time.
