Arms recovered, three arrested

Imphal, April 02 2025:
Security forces have seized cache of arms and ammunition and arrested three persons during search operations, according to a statement issued by Manipur Police Control Room.
During a search operation in Sajirok area under Patsoi police station in Imphal West district, security personnel recovered one SLR with magazine, a Single Barrel Gun, three 9mm pistols with three magazines, one AK rifle magazine, two defective INSAS rifle magazines, five rounds of .303 calibre, 10 casings of .303, four barrel cartridges, five tear smoke shells, one hand grenade, four smoke grenades, a stun grenade, six plates (four plastic and two rubber), three bulletproof vests, three camouflage helmets and a BAOFENG handheld set along with a charger.
In a separate operation at Aihang village under Waikhong police station in Kakching district on Tuesday, security forces apprehended a cadre of the banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-PRO) identified as Moirangthem Roshan Singh (40) of Chairel Awang Leikai.
Police stated that he was engaged in extortion activities targeting institutions in Wangoo Chairel and Pangaltabi areas.
A mobile handset was recovered from his possession.
Additionally, on March 31, Manipur police arrested two individuals involved in extortion of money from transport vehicles in Sekmai area.
The accused have been identified as Wahengbam Binanta Singh (45) of Palace Compound Heinou Makhong and Hijam Gogoba Singh alias Gogo (44) of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal.
Two mobile handsets and a four-wheeler have been recovered from them.
