Imphal, March 28 2025:
A one-day workshop cum exhibition on 'Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farming Communities through Integrated Farming System in Manipur" was organised by ICAR, Manipur Centre in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs) of Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Tamenglong and Ukhrul at ICAR, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat on Friday.
The workshop was attended by Horticulture commissioner Thaithuilung Panmei, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Directorate of Extension Education director Dr Ph Ranjit Sharma, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry joint director Dr Lois Hongrey, ICAR for NEH Region, Meghalaya nodal in-charge (TSP) Dr S Hazarika, ICAR Manipur Centre ex-principal scientist Dr I Meghachandra Singh and ICAR, Manipur Centre head Dr M Vasudha Devi as presidium members.
In his speech, ICAR-Ma-nipur Centre senior scientist (plant pathology) Dr Akoijam Ratankumar Singh said that the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) was implemented in 2013 to improve the life of hill farmers through integrated farming.
The workshop cum exhibition was organised to assess the progress of farming activities in hill districts after more than a decade since the implementation so that new activities could be initiated.
In all, 300 farmers from various hill districts attended the workshop wherein they interacted with scientists.
Other successful farmers and entrepreneurs also attended the workshop, and later, they showcased their various products.
