JC honours scribes, commemorates Khongjom Battle

Thoubal, April 25 2025: Along with conferring awards to four journalists and an intellectual for their exceptional work in journalism and related fields, the Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891 Martyrs & Freedom Fighters, Kangleipak (Manipur) organised commemorative event of the Khongjom Battle of the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 at Khongjom Bazar community hall.

The event was marked by Thang-Ta salute and offering of floral tributes to Major Chongtha Miya and other unknown warriors who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their motherland.

The tribute was led by Justice Committee chairman Joychandra Konthoujam.

During the event, the committee presented awards to senior journalist Hemanta Kumar Ningomba, The Imphal Times editor Rinku Khumukcham, Karigla Pao editor Paonam Labango Mangang, Elite TV chief editor Jit Ningomba and MU department of Law head Dr Yumnam Premananda Singh.

The award carries cash prize, certificate and gifts.

Among others, MU vice chancellor professor N Lokendro also spoke in connection with the Khongjom Battle.
