'Forest and Food' workshop marks IDF

Imphal, March 22 2025: TS Paul Manipur Women's College marked International Day of Forests at the college conference hall with a workshop under the theme "Forest and Food" on Friday.

A statement issued by Ksh Devendra Singh, Principal of TS Paul Manipur Women's College, informed that the Department of Environmental Science, in collaboration with the IQAC and Eco-club, organised the event with student participants to raise awareness about the crucial role of forests in food security, nutrition, and livelihoods.

Rahul Ashem, project officer, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur, provided valuable insights into the various types of forests found in the different districts of the state and highlighted potential research areas and opportunities for students.

The programme concluded with a pledge from the students to protect and conserve forests by reducing deforestation and supporting conservation efforts, the release added.
