Mount Everest College celebrates annual day

Mount Everest College celebrated its Annual Cultural Meet-cum-Inter-Departmental Day on Wednesday at the college auditorium, under the theme "Roots of Tradition, Wings of Innovation" .
The event was organised by the Cultural Committee in collaboration with all academic departments and the Co-Curricular Committee.
In his address, vice-principal Meithuanlungpou Gonmei highlighted the importance of cultural celebration, stressing the relevance of the three Ps - Preserve, Practice, and Promote - as essential ways for safeguarding one's cultural identity without allowing it to be assimilated by others.
The programme featured three competitive events: Traditional fire making, choral singing, and a departmental activity.
In the traditional fire making competition, Department of Political Science and Department of Zoology secured first and second places respectively, while Departments of Sociology and Commerce jointly finished third.
In the choral singing competition, Department of Botany emerged as the winner, followed by Department of Sociology in second place and Department of English in third.
The departmental activity competition included performances that combined academic themes with creative expression.
The Department of Zoology received the Most Creative Award for their original presentation titled "The Journey of Mankind" .
The Department of Sociology received the Most Realistic Award for their thought-provoking piece "Lost in the Virtual Haze," while the Department of Physics earned the Most Inspiring Award for their exceptional presentation "Optics Unveiled: The Science of Light and Vision" .
The Department of English was honoured with the Best Presentation Award for their powerful and evocative dramatic recital of Maya Angelou's "Still I Rise" .
The event showcased remarkable cultural activities, celebrating departmental creativity, realism, inspiration, and impactful presentations across disciplines.
