Imphal, October 15 2023:
Beneficial Club, Meitram (BCM) has expressed strong opposition against the demand for imposition of President's Rule in the state.
In a statement, BCM said it firmly believes that imposing President's Rule in Manipur would not only be against the interests of the Meetei community but would also jeopardise the unity, integrity, and growth prospects of the entire state.
Such a move could potentially undermine the delicate social fabric of Manipur and would have far-reaching adverse effects on the socio-cultural, economic, and political landscapes.
"Our stance on this matter is driven solely by a genuine concern for the well-being and progress of the Meetei community and the people of Manipur at large.
This opinion is independent of any political interest or affiliation.
Our primary motive is to safeguard the rights and aspirations of our community and contribute constructively to the peaceful development of Manipur," the statement said.
The club further called upon all stakeholders and responsible authorities to consider the implications and consequences of any such drastic measure carefully at a time when the state is facing serious humanitarian crisis with a strong threat to the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur.
It is crucial to engage in open dialogue and collaborative efforts to address concerns and work towards a harmonious and prosperous future for all residents of Manipur, the statement added.
