LEECHING lifts ban on entry of Kukis in Jiribam

Following an understanding reached after two rounds of talks involving Jiribam SPj CO 39 AR and CSO leaders, LEECHING Jiribam has lifted the ban on entry of Kukis in Jiribam district supposed to be effective from October 16 .
LEECHING president W Dinesh told media persons that an unfortunate incident that happened on October 11 at Tatbung which is located in the border between Jiribam and Tamenglong district, compelled it to demand clarification about the incident from Kuki CSOs and leaders within October 15 and warned of imposing ban on Kukis from entering Jiribam district from October 16 .
However, SP Jiribam and CO of 39 Assam Rifles intervened swiftly to prevent unwanted incident.
Accordingly, joint meetings of Jiribam based CSOs and Kuki CSOs and leaders were held at 39 Assam Rifles two times.
In the first meeting, Kuki chiefs and CSOs were asked to produce some youths who tried to beat up a driver hailing from Gularthol at Tatbung on October 11 .
In the second meeting, Kuki chiefs and CSOs brought the two involved youths.
During the second meeting, Kuki chiefs and CSO leaders gave assurance that no unwanted incident would happen till Kaiphundai area of Tamenglong district.
The meeting also agreed to hold a series of meetings and awareness collectively to prevent unwanted incident in the area and accordingly reached an understanding, Dinesh said, and declared that the ban on entry of Kukis in Jiribam has been lifted with immediate effect.
