Loaded, empty TTs told to report at oil depot

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Limited senior depot manager has re portedly instructed transporters and dealers cum transporters that loaded and empty tanker trucks (TTs) should report to Imphal Depot by 6:30 am on Monday or they will be liable for penalty for violation of the agreements signed.
In letters communicated to four transporters and dealers cum transporters on Sunday, Malom Oil Depot senior manager conveyed that no loaded and empty TTs have reported to Imphal Depot since the strike called by All Manipur Petroleum Product Drivers' Association on October 11.The letters said that IOC has been sympathetic to the agitation of the Association as TT crews have been sincerely working to provide oil products to the people of the state.
The corporation fully endorses that TT crews should be allowed to dispense their duty without any danger or hindrance, the senior manager said.
However, as petroleum products are essential commodity and any disturbance to supply and distribution would affect normal life of people, cessation of such essential service will invite punishment under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) .
The letters mentioned that considering all this, transporters and dealers cum transporters should ensure that all loaded and empty TTs with their crews report to Imphal Oil Depot by 6:30 am on Monday and resume normal duty in the interest of the public.
If the said directive is not complied with then they will be penalised as per Bulk Petroleum Products Road Transport Agreement and Oil Industry Transport Guideline, the letters cautioned.
