Phambei against handing over of Kuki dead bodies until missing Meitei bodies are returned

Until the bodies of all missing Meiteis are handed over to the community, the dead bodies of Kukis lying at RIMS and JNIMS morgue cannot be released to the Kuki community, said Phambei, Yairipok Bamol Leikai.
Hidam Sanjoy, member, Phambei made the above assertion during a worship ceremony at Yairipok Bamol Leikai offering prayers to Epa Nongpok Ningthou and Ema Charangleima.
He said that the worship ceremony was held in observance of the tradition of offering prayers to Epa Nongpok Ningthou and Ema Charangleima and to mourn the passing of the brave martyrs who laid down their lives to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur in the ongoing conflict , pay respect to their courage and offer prayers for their rebirth in this land, he said.

Referring to the brutal killing of Phijam Hemanjit and Linthoingambi Hijam, he said that despite a photo of their lifeless bodies going viral on social media and the suspected culprits being arrested, their mortal remains are yet to be found.
Expressing anguish and discontent over this issue, he appealed to the relevant authorities to handover the dead bodies of the two young students to their respective parents.
In the same vein, he asserted that until the bodies of those missing Meiteis who are suspected to have fallen into the hands of Kukis are returned, the dead bodies of Kukis lying at RIMS and JNIMS mortuary should not be handed over to the Kuki community.
Today's worship ceremony was attended by elders and womenfolk of Yairipok Bamol Leikai.
The gathering paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the conflict.
