Road blocked as residents demand repair

Thoubal, April 02 2025: Demanding blacktopping of the road stretch from Yairipok-Azad turning to Keithelmanbi under Andro assembly constituency in Imphal East, locals have decided to bar movement of heavy vehicles along the route from 6 pm of April 3 till fulfilment of the demand.

They also warned of launching intense agitation in case their demand is not upheld within five days of the road closure.

The decision to this effect was made during a public meeting held at Yairipok Yambem community hall oh Wednesday which was attended by members of various clubs and organisations, meira paibi groups, Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat.

The meeting thoroughly discussed the hardships faced by the residents due to the deteriorating condition of the road and condemned the prolonged neglect and lack of repairs.

Accordingly, the meeting adopted several resolutions, including the formation of the Laimanai to Keithelmanbi Road Development Organisation and the appointment of an 11-member executive committee.

The meeting was also attended by Changamdabi ZP chairperson Md Yunush; Changamdabi, Top-Chingtha and Yambem GP administrative committee chairpersons Md Imran Shah, Senjam Devan and Shyam Singh; All Changamdabi Clubs Coordinating Committee convener Ishaque Kori; Yambem Young Pioneer Club president Ngangom Raghumani; LYCY Konsam Sanjit, Nungaipokpi Club member Premkumar; Yambem Meira Paibi president M Nung-shitombi, secretary Mutum Prema and representatives of various clubs, organisation and association as members on the dais.
