Ukhrul, November 29 2023:
A two-day free health camp with distribution of basic health materials was held at Awangkasom Junction (Ngahui), near the Indo-Myanmar border under Chingai Sub-Division in Ukhrul district on November 27 and 28 .
The camp was funded by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited under its CSR initiative and organised by Ukhrul Hills Development Foundation (UHDF) .
More than 520 people availed the benefits of health check-up and free medicines during the camp, which was conducted by a team of three doctors and four nurses headed by CMO AS Kapangring.
UHDF managing director Ningchui Graceson Shatsangp and Yang Raphei Longnao president Starson Shatsang also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shatshang noted that inhabitants of around 12 villages located in the border area face hardships due lack of proper health care facilities in the region.
"The villagers could also not afford to go to towns or cities for health check due to lack of resources.
In such a situation, the free health camp has come as a blessing for the entire population of the area," he said, while expressing gratitude to ONGC for the programme.
