Faculty development programme begins

A 7-days faculty development programme on "Remote sensing & GIS and its application in the contemporary world" was kicked off today at the Multipurpose hall of Modern College in Porompat.
The programme was jointly organised by the IQAC and Department of Geography of Modern College under the sponsorship of Department of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
The inaugural function was attended by Prof Soibam Jibonkumar Singh, Dean, School of Human & Environmental Science & Director of College Development Council, MU; Ganesh Nagarajan, DFO Kangpokpi; LK Thanmi, Associate Prof, Department of Political Science; and Dr P Pravabati Devi, Vice Principal, Modern College as presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Soibam Jibonkumar shared that the education system in India has undergone a sea of changes and improvements in the last decade.
He continued that there changes in demand for courses, quality & access to content and the most notable has been the move from physical to virtual.
"The introduction of technology in the world of education has transformed the way of teaching and made it more adaptive and easier to understand.
The walls of classrooms are no longer a barrier", he added.
Department of Geography, HOD, Asst Prof Elangbam Anjushree Devi also spoke on the occasion.
Teachers and professors from different colleges of the State are taking part in the faculty development programme.
